We had 52 motorcycles including two Bonneville streamliners lined up for the vent, but we were hit my a massive amount of rain that started days before the event and continued in the days after as well. Despite the soggy conditions, we were committed to going forward as there was no rain date available at the Radnor Hunt property. Clear covers were ordered for the motorcycles and autos and we transported the motorcycles from the nearby Simeon Musuem where they had been on display since August 18. Come Sunday morning, there was no let up in the rain, but we duly carried on and made the best of it. Incredibly, folks showed up and the event was able to happen due to the hard work of many volunteers and entrants who pitched in. Job well done to all !

Special Guest Phil Read, the first man to win the 125, 250 and 500cc Grand Prix classes.  He was the first man to win a World Championship for Yamaha in 1964. After Yamaha pulled out of Grand Prix racing, Phil became a privateer for a few years before landing a well-deserved seat with MV Agusta to win back-to-back 500cc World titles. He was the the man who brought disc brakes to the famous Italian manufacturer and the last four-stroke winner in the 500cc class. There we three giants of Grand Prix racing in the 1960's and early 1970's: Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read. Along the way he managed to score 8 victories at the Isle of Man including a Formula 1 motorcycle World Championship in 1977. He was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth in 1979 and has stayed active at vintage events worldwide since then. Phil has a keen interest aviation and currently is working on an electric gyro copter that may change the future of commuting.

Read still makes the top ten list of Grand Prix winners with 52 victories from 152 starts

Phil was on hand to greet his many fans and help auction of some items for our charitable beneficiary, Thorncroft Equestrian Therapy. Two brand new Arai Phil Read replica helmets and a copy of Rebel Read, Prince of Speed brought top dollar as well as many other items. Phil kindly autographed these and spent many hours with his fans and choosing his favorite motorcycles of the events. His depth of knowledge on so many motorcycle was staggering.

In addition to the motorcycles on display, Radnor Hunt is primarily a Concours for automobiles. 2018 is the 22nd Annual RH Concours and was chock full of choice cars despite the wet weather.
